Inspiration came from one of my favorite praise
songs by
As the mountains surround Jerusalem,
So the Lord surrounds His people.
Surround us, Lord
Surround us, Lord
We need to be in Your presence
Surround us, Lord.
This painting takes God's point of view from
heaven looking down on His chosen people,
surrounding them with mountains for protection
and sealing them with His Son's precious blood.

Artist's Statement:
Sometimes it feels like wave after wave of hard
times are crashing in on us. In those dark times,
it seems like nothing good can come from the
trials. But God uses them as His framework for
bringing us growth and absolute surrender to
Him.
It's when, through the Holy Spirit's work in our
lives as we seek God in study and prayer, that
we start to see His grand goodness even while
still in the midst of the challenge. He reveals the
beautiful color He's adding to our character and
soul. What was ugly, now holds beauty.

Hide me now, under Your wings
Cover me, within Your mighty hand
When the oceans rise and thunders roar,
I will soar with You above the storm.
Father, You are King over the flood.
I will be still and know you are God.
I have felt the waters rise above the flood mark
and feared that I was going under, only to have
God Almighty pluck me from the fray and take
me up above the storm. This painting reminds
me I have a relationship with the Great
Protector. The King of the flood. I can rest
easy knowing He's covering me.
